A Winnebago packed with fluffy puppies is touring the country to provide tail-wagging love to wounded warriors.
Sarasota’s Kathy Alexander has made it her mission for the summer to travel with her pet therapy Bichon Frises to military bases and visit our wounded veterans.
“Some wonder if we have forgotten them,” says Kathy of the soldiers she visited at Ft. Benning. “Many were so happy to see the dogs and share stories of their own dogs back home. Their spirits seemed good while we were there, it was a breath of fresh air for them.”
Kathy usually works her pet therapy magic on the local elderly population, but hopes this summer’s visits to wounded warriors is the first of many.
Communication with Kathy is spotty as she travels cross-country, but in her last e-mail she sounded like her work is as rewarding to her as it is to the wounded. For more information on Pet Therapy, click here.
So many folks have discovered their own ways to serve our country. Whether they’ve signed on to serve in our military; as a public servant; or in a more personal way that suits them-I am so thankful.
Bless them all.
